Hat, sunblock, bugspray, water required. Gaiters very much recommended. I have a couple spare pairs. That might be something I could make available to the club as well, there are some that are $50 and up a pair, all we need are lightweight ones, but we really do, often....I have to order a couple pairs coming up and will order some spares.
What do gaiters matter?
They keep grass seeds and stuff out of the tops of your boots.
If you're wading a shallow stream, quickly, they keep the water out of your boots.
They keep mud, moss, bog goo out of your boots.
They keep ticks from getting in under your pants legs and going up.
They keep thorns off your pants and from scratching.
